Government – for the people – by the people.
Government should be about empowerment. Investing in people.
Inequality is rising.
The austerity measures have increased the gap between those that have and those that have not. We are not “all in this together”.
Political decisions have been made to reduce the State. Using the deficit as a cover.
These decisions include reducing Local Govt funding. Local Govt is the front line. The words are hollow – “we will protect front line services”.
To cut Local Govt is a false economy. Youth services, Libraries, Cutting Social Care budgets impact on other services, including the NHS.
Its a False economy.
The cost to society will be vast.
My values are clear. Invest in society. Create an economy that puts people first.
The reward is a productive economy, not a false one.
